Hepatitis B is a liver disease which is caused when a person is exposed to the Hepatitis B virus, and will result in visible hepatitis b symptoms. Hepatitis B is an infectious disease and can spread from one person to another by sexual contact, by sharing needles or syringes, from an infected mother to the baby or by blood transfusion or for that matter any contact with infected blood from a person.

The disease affects many people globally. Usually the person who comes in contact with this Hepatitis B virus takes nearly two to three months on an average to develop the symptoms of the disease. If you are well aware of the Hepatitis B symptoms, it could prove very helpful to identify it timely if in case you or some dear one suffers from the illness. Timely diagnosis and treatment is the key to successful treatment of Hepatitis B.

The 7 Hepatitis B Symptoms

The symptoms of Hepatitis B can be confused with most of the other illnesses. Some symptoms are:

Fever

The patient develops high fever and it is persistent.

Loss of appetite

The patient would be very reluctant to eat and would probably refrain from eating even when forced to eat by the care takers.

Nausea and vomiting

Nauseas and vomiting may make this disease look like just another illness but it should be taken seriously.

Joint pain

The patient would feel pain in his knees, back, lower back and shoulders. The joint pain would also make him look too tired and reluctant to do even basic chores.

Abdominal pain

This can be a tell tale sign for Hepatitis B infection. The virus affects the liver and the abdominal pain could well point in this direction.

Yellowish skin and eyes

Hepatitis B affects the liver seriously and causes the liver to malfunction and produce more bile. The excessive bile formation appears in the form of yellowish colored skin and eyes.

Dark urine

This is the final sign that the person is severely affected with Hepatitis B. If the person observes that the urine is dark in color and then a doctor should be consulted at the earliest.

These are the hepatitis b symptoms to look out for.

Male yeast infections are not as common as those in women. As women’s genitalia are more sensitive than those of men, women are more prone to the infections in those locations. The yeast infections in men mostly appear near the mouth, near sensitive skin where a bit more sweating takes place, and at male genitalia. Mostly, women are infected from their male partners. This is the reason why women should be acquainted with male yeast infection.

Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

When male yeast infection affects the male genitalia, its effects are mostly seen on the penis head. It turns red and looks like having white patches. The patient feels irritation, itching and dryness on the penis tip.

The patient feels burning sensation when the infected area makes contact with anything, may be clothes or the female genitalia. The irritation continues if contact is made for a long time. So it becomes impossible to become wear or to have intercourse. With continued irritation, the patient urinates in the clothes unable to tolerate the sensation. Sometimes this situation is also called a “Balanitis”.

Causes of Male Yeast Infection

The main causes of male yeast infection includes following:

Sexual transmission: there are always a limited amount of yeast present in our body, mostly in sweating and private parts. They have a little contribution towards the body smell. They are healthy part to the human body. The problem arises when there is an overgrowth of Candida Albicans.

The infection can be induced in the partner’s body if he or she is a weaker. All the transmission needs is intimate contact of the skins or affected area to a normal skin.

Use of high dose antibiotics: this happens mostly in men. Men taking antibiotics for silliest abnormalities help the micro organisms to grow on their body.

The antibiotics kill a particular type of micro-organisms and hence the unaffected face least competition to survive. As a result an infection takes over.

Diabetes: patients with high blood sugar are more prone to the male yeast infection.

Failure to observe healthy lifestyle practices can result in problems related to the kidney, such as a urinary tract infection. The urinary tract comprises the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethera. Ureters are carrier ducts of urine from the kidney to the bladder. The urine gets stored in the bladder and finally eliminated from the body through the urethera.

The kidney is a bean shaped organ of our body which helps in filtering and cleaning of blood by removing toxins, excess water and wastes as urine through the urinary tract. They perform a vital function of constant monitoring of the quality of blood, acid-base content, to keep it pure and free from viruses, bacteria, waste products etc.

Depending upon the region infected the generic term urinary tract infection can be subclassified into pyelonephritis (kidney infection), ureter infection, cystisis (bladder infection) and urethritis (urethral infection). Common pathogens which cause UTI include bacteria, especially E Coli, fungi and parasites which multiply and invade the urinary tract. UTI can also be transmitted through STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease). The symptoms include pain and burning sensation in passing urine, fever, nausea, vomitting etc. UTI is more common in women than men due to their peculiar anatomy. It is detected by examination of the urine sample.

To maintain a healthy kidney one must drink plenty of water and keep the tract flushed clean at all times. One should not control the natural urinating call for prolonged durations. One must have a healthy intake of nutrients, plenty of water and avoid smoking and intoxication in any form. Sexual hygiene of partners in intercourse is a must.

However, if one does get affected by a urinary tract infection, simple infections can be treated well and prevented from spreading to other parts of the body through antibiotics oral or intravenous in severe cases. But complicated infections can cause permanent kidney damage or infection of other organs such as prostrate, vagina, epididymis due to their proximity to the tract if the body gets resistant to antibiotics. Therefore corrective action must be initiated timely.

Vaginal yeast infection occurs due to the introduction of new yeast or when there is an overgrowth of yeast relative to the quantity of normal bacteria.

Causes of Vaginal Yeast Infection

Some of the reasons for the occurrence of yeast infection are:

When the eradication of bacteria happens due to the use of antibiotics or immunosuppressive drugs.

Injury caused to the inner vagina because of chemotherapy.

Conditions such as diabetes mellitus and pregnancy, use of oral contraceptives and douches can also lead to vaginal yeast infection.

Stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes during periods, consumption of high amounts of sugary food, etc., can also increase the risk of yeast infection.

This infection is not sexually transmitted. This is because the yeast Candida albicans that is responsible for the infection is present in normal vagina and even celibate women are prone to the infection.

Possible effects of Vaginal Yeast Infection on Men

However, men may develop irritation of the penis skin following a sexual intercourse with an infected partner.

Symptoms of Vaginal Yeast Infection

Extreme itchiness in the area around the vagina is the most common symptom of yeast infection. There may also be other symptoms such as:

Pain at the time of passing urine

Soreness

Redness, burning and swelling of the vagina

Pain during sex

A thick white vaginal discharge

A woman suffering from vaginal infection may have only one of these symptoms or a combination of the symptoms. The symptoms may range from mild to severe. Vaginal yeast infection is diagnosed through a pelvic examination for swelling and discharge and examination under the microscope or through a swab test of the vaginal fluid.

Treatment of Vaginal Yeast Infection

Anti-fungal creams, tablets, ointments and suppositories that can be inserted into the vagina are the common treatments for the infection. Some of these medications are available over the counter, but some are available only on production of doctor’s prescription. Doctors may prescribe a single dose of fluconazole for oral consumption.

Home Remedies for Yeast Infection – I have a sister who is prone to yeast infections. They usually occur after she has started a round of antibiotics. Let’s face it, having a yeast infection is every woman’s worst nightmare. You are one of the lucky ones if you have not had this unpleasant experience occur.

4 Home Remedies for Yeast Infection

Based on my sister’s experience and my own, I have investigated and tried some home remedies for yeast infection, and these are the four home remedies that may help you.

Probiotics

I remember the first time I found relief while I was visiting my local natural foods store and a very helpful employee told me about probiotics. This would be considered a natural cure one of a few that I would suggest you try to gain relief.

Probiotics are a great natural remedy for yeast infection. They are live microbial organisms that are naturally present in the digestive tract and vagina. Probiotics, which are the friendly bacteria, suppress the growth of candida, which is why probiotic supplements have been explored as a natural remedy for yeast infection.

When my sister takes an antibiotic it will kill off a lot of the harmful bacteria as well as the good. A great option to try when you are taking an antibiotic is one hour afterward you take a probiotic so that after the bad bacteria are eliminated you can replenish the good bacteria that you need to stay in balance. This is a fantastic and effective cure.

Boric Acid

Another remedy that I have yet to try but have heard is effective is boric acid. Boric acid is a substance with mild antiseptic and antifungal properties. Sounds like it would be effective to me!

Oil of Oregano

One that has a similar property to the antifungal is oil of oregano. This is a staple at my home because of all the wonderful cleansing properties contained in the oil. This really packs a punch. It has been very effective at controlling candida. Even when a yeast infection is not present it is not a bad idea to keep candida in check. It is tough to swallow. I usually gulp it down by placing a small amount of orange juice in the back of my throat and then placing a few drops there and swallowing it down without having to touch it to my tongue.

Garlic

The last treatment that I have tried is to place a peeled garlic clove as a suppository overnight. This seems to work well and my uncomfortable burning and itching symptoms are gone the next morning.

Whatever you decide to try know that relief can be yours by following a few simple natural cures that you may already have in your pantry at home. Good luck with these home remedies for yeast infection!

Kidney Infection Symptoms in Women – Kidney infections occur in both men and women. Women will have different symptoms than a man with a kidney infection. Kidney infections often happen to women because of their diet, lifestyle habits, and sometimes because of infections of the urinary tract. A woman’s diet can play a big part in this condition from not eating right and not getting the proper amount of fiber, vitamins, and protein in their diet.

If a woman is experiencing a kidney infection, she may have pain when urinating and blood in her urine. Kidney infection symptoms in women may also cause abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea and vomiting may occur. This is a good sign to go see your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You doctor will have a treatment to cure your kidney infection after seeing the results of your urine test.

Most of the time medication is given to clear up this infection. Antibiotics are the medication that will likely be given to a woman with a kidney infection. Sometimes it takes several days after taking the medication for the symptoms to let up. In some cases, it can take a week or two for the symptoms to cease. In worse cases, hospitalization may be needed until the woman has fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the time a woman can recover from her kidney infection symptoms right from home by following the proper steps. Heat applied to the area of the pain with a heating pad may help to take away some of the pain. A woman can take pain medication when pain flairs up to help ease the pain and it is important to drink plenty of water.

Try to stay away from caffeine drinks during this time and limit caffeine drinks after your symptoms are gone. Kidney infection symptoms in women can be severe so if you are experiencing any of these symptoms contact your doctor immediately.

How can you tell if you are showing signs of a kidney infection? Kidney infections can lead to permanent damage if they are not treated in a timely fashion. The first part of treating an infection is learning the signs of a kidney infection. Most kidney infections start in your urinary tract and end up infecting your kidneys as well.

Kidney infections can show up as pain in different areas of your body with common spots being lower back or middle back pain. These are not the only areas as sometimes pain may show up in your groin area or even under your arm pits.

A doctor will normally have to perform a urine or blood test to find out if you do have a kidney infection but getting to that point means that you need to recognize when you might have a kidney infection. In extreme cases you may see blood in your urine and maybe even puss. This will also result in a burning pain during urination which is always a good time to see your doctor. You may also feel the urge to urinate more often than is normal.

These are not the only signs of a kidney infection as general flu like symptoms may be present as well. These can include vomiting and general nausea. You may also run a fever just as you would if you had the flu. Other symptoms can can be tenderness when touched on your lower back or sides.

If you are feeling ill or sickly in general while experiencing any of these other symptoms, it would be wise to see your doctor about having a urinalysis done to check for a kidney infection. Any one of these signs of a kidney infection can show up at any time without warning. They may also not always be persistent and can come and go over time.

If you are looking for a kidney infection treatment, then you know that our kidneys play a vital part to our body system. Its primary role is to filter out the waste products from the body and eliminate them permanently. Aside from that, they also aid on maintaining our blood pressure, blood cells production and the concentration of electrolytes. However, if we tend to ignore our genital parts from keeping it clean everyday especially after sexual intercourse; it can lead to kidney infections.

Some Kidney Infection Treatments

Various treatments for kidney infections are listed below:

You can place a heating pad on the affected area, it lessen the pain that you are experiencing.

Drink plenty of water regularly, keep yourself hydrated as it helps you urinate more frequently which simply means it will
wash away those harmful bacteria’s.

Go and see your doctor, antibiotics can be applied if you have UTI or bladder infection. Always follow the prescribed
prescription and don’t you ever miss your medications. These medications will kill the bacterium that causes the
infection.

After taking your medications, immediately inform your physician if it works in your case. It is essential to inform your
physician of your status if it works well otherwise further treatment will be advised to you.

There are several treatments for kidney infections but first of all, it is quite better to prevent it first.

A kidney infection belongs to the category of infections caused in the urinary system called the urinary tract infections (UTI). This is a common infection and affects more women than men in general. This is also common in children and sometimes it becomes difficult to diagnose the kidney infection causes as they are not easy to identify. Most people don’t even think about the causes until they realize they have kidney infection symptoms.

Common Kidney Infection Causes

Urine is a sterile fluid in the body without much exposure to bacteria. Therefore presence of bacteria in urine is considered abnormal and this may lead to urinary tract infection. The bacteria gains access to the urinary system from outside, through the urethra. Urethra is the transport tube leading from the bladder to discharge urine outside the body. This connects to the penis in case of men and to the vagina in case of women.

Common sources of bacteria invading the urine system are the anus, vagina and skin. Women are more prone to this infection due to the shorter length of urethra. You can learn more about kidney infection symptoms in women in another post on this site.

Sexual intercourse increases the risk of getting kidney infection in women because of the possible introduction of bacteria through vagina.

Pregnancy is also another reason where women have a higher risk of contracting the infection due to slower transit of urine due to the pressure applied by the uterus.

Urinary catheters can also be another reason which causes the infection. Catheters is an equipment which is used in a scenario where an individual is unable to urinate on his own (paralysis, bed ridden patients etc). These catheters are an easy medium through which bacteria from the outside world gets easily transmitted into the urinary system.

Kidney stones are yet another reason which can cause kidney infections since blocked urine may cause the bacteria to ascend to the kidney. Another post on this site explains more about kidney stones symptoms.

In children some risk factors include uncircumcised male, female gender or any structural abnormality with respect to the urine system.

What the above list fails to indicate however, is which of the kidney infection causes is most prevalent and which are most

I am familiar with kidney stones symptoms because, I am seeing them every day in my father. He has kidney related problems and is undergoing treatment under a nephrologist. Here we talk about symptoms of kidney stones, and it is helpful to compare them to kidney infection symptoms.

List of Kidney Stones Symptoms

The symptoms of kidney stones are:

Severe cramping pain in the low back and side of the abdomen and blood in the urine.

Sometimes it is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The pain is called as renal colic.

The pain sometimes radiates from the flank to the groin even upto the thigh.

At times the pain is so harsh that we feel like the bone is breaking.

If you have infection in the urinary tract you will have high fever adding to the pain.

What Are Kidney Stones and How are They Identified?

A kidney stone is also known as renal calculus, and is a hard crystalline mineral material inside the kidney. 80% of the kidney stones are calcium stones.

Kidney stones are identified by the doctors using CT Scan. Nephrologists observe that dietary factors are the common cause for kidney stones. Low fluid intake accompanied by high intake of animal protein products paves way for kidney stone.

Causes of Kidney Stones Symptoms

Strenuous exercises without adequate fluid intake and dehydration with fewer fluids in your food intake increases the risk of kidney stones. It can also result from infection in urinary tract. Disorders in the metabolism aggravates the risk of having the kidney stones. Other chronic diseases like diabetics and high blood pressure or hyper tension leads to kidney stone. Gout and high calcium in the urine increases the chance. Doctors prefer less intake of calcium in these cases. Another post will help you learn more about kidney infection causes.

High salt intake and high sugar intake are not advised by the nephrologists. If you are having any of these habits , you may show the symptoms later. Right now, cut down salt and sugar to the minimum. Kidney stones symptoms are common among Asians than any other place in the world. American Urological Association predicts of an increase in kidney stone patients , with the increase in global temperature all over the world!

It is very interesting to see that “high salt and sugar intake are not advised by the medical experts.” Hmm…is there ever a case where anyone, particularly in the health profession, would advise that you or any patient take in high amounts of sugar? Or high amounts of salt? It’s like…well duh! So often it comes back to diet and what we put into our bodies. But knowing that overall diet by Americans is not likely to improve significantly, it is sadly the likely reality that kidney stones symptoms will only become more prevalent.
